Description
Extension to the existing Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Sligo University Hospital. The works consist of a steel frame building with built up cladding system constructed at 8th floor roof level of the existing hospital.
The works include the construction of 4Nr. positively pressurised isolation rooms, extensive refurbishment works to the existing ICU and electrical and communication tie in works with routes requiring works across all 8 floors of the live hospital.
Working in and around the most sensitive areas of a live hospital constructing a roof level extension on the 8th floor over a live Paediatric Department meant a highly challenging project for all involved.
Works were also required across all 8Nr. Floors of the hospital to facilitate submain electrical cable pulling from ground floor to Level 8 through numerous live areas of the hospital.
