The pre-start works commenced in June 2021 with the demolition of the old National School building and the construction and fitting out of the new temporary primary school. The new temporary accommodation was successfully handed over to the department of Education in August to allow the school to open in time for the new school year.
Phase 1 of the project, which involves the construction of the new secondary school and the ancillary site works, commenced during September 2021. The bulk excavation works were completed in October and the installation of the pile foundations commenced immediately after this. Approximately 350 of the 420 proposed piles have been installed to date and the piling works are planned to be complete prior to the Christmas break.
The new year will see substructure and drainage works commencing to the building and will also see the commencement of works in and around the public road and the school entrance.
