Last month, Minister for Education and Skills, Jan O’Sullivan was in Rathwire for the “sod turning” of the new St Joseph’s National School. She and Bishop Michael Smith were relieved of the obligation to start digging, due to the fact that construction is already well underway on site. And so, they each laid a block in the wall to what will ultimately be a completely new 3010m2, sixteen classroom, primary school, along with a two classroom SNU/ ASD unit, associated ancillary accommodation, external play, 45 parking spaces, drop off facilities, gated vehicular access and associated landscaping.
